These are just general numbers.Ģ000-meter mass accelerator (Sovereign's length): Obviously these numbers are not always going to be correct- hyped-up dreadnoughts like Sovereign and the Destiny Ascension are going to be higher, and weaker cruisers and frigates are going to be lower. These calculations make several assumptions- all mass accelerators use 20 kg slugs, are accelerated at a rate of 5.03125 km/s per meter, and fire once every 2 seconds. So, based on the numbers for an 800-meter mass accelerator I calculated speed, energy, and yields for cannons of other lengths. However, dreadnoughts and their main guns can vary from 800 meters to a full kilometer, and there are various smaller cruisers and frigates that exist. The cannon is stated capable of firing a slug every 2 seconds, so it could accumulate 1.14 megatons of damage in a minute. 5*mass*velocity^2 shows the slug to 1.62e14 joules of kinetic energy, or 162 terajoules. (Originally, the numbers were 283 km/s, 2 kg, and 38 kilotons, but the math used to arrive at these numbers was egregiously wrong). The speed, mass, and yield is given as 4025 km/s (1.3% the speed of light), 20 kg, and 38 kilotons. In Mass Effect, only one precise yield for a weapon is given- the 800-meter mass accelerator cannon on a 800-meter dreadnought.
